Basketball Wives ... MORE WIVES!

Basketball Wives is one of the new series that follows the lives of a another group of women (deja vu) who are romantically linked to professional basketball players. The show is about the struggles of being involved with these guys, involving business, trying to stay stable and hold on to it all and don't forget the groupies that are chasing their men!

But being a wife or girlfriend of a basketball player has advantages, shitting courtside at games to sun bathing on your husband's yacht. While many may think that the wives of professional athletes are lazy and get everything they want, these women prove that they are anything but. These wives run high-end shoe boutiques, manage a dance company, and are building a fitness empire. These women are proving that they are not relying on just their men's income. They are also struggling to raise their children while their basketball players are conquering the hard court.

I haven't caught too many of these episodes, but I think I like this show more than the other housewives shows. These women are more down to earth and really tell it like it is. Unlike their counterparts who really don't have a clue. So my friends, catch this diddy on VH1 ... or online.

Jerseylicious ... ? Drama City yes!!

Let me tell you folks, this reality show is so ridiculous like the others but I love it. Drama, drama, drama ... no one knows how to talk to anyone in a civil tongue. To sit there and watch these hairdressers can blind you. The outfits they wear, I don't even think you would see on the catwalk or in the most common neighborhoods. I have been to a few hair salons in Jersey and have NEVER seen any of the hairdressers with hair that is stiff with hair spray and about six inches off your head and clothes soooo skin tight when they shouldn't be. These employees that work at the Gatsby do have somewhat of a good work ethic ... they are competitive for business at least. They do offer a variety of services that most salons don't like makeup. If you get a chance watch this show for a good laugh and to see what the other 1/4 of Jersey is doing!

And don't forget to see the glam fairy, she is obnoxious! Watch it on the Style Network or catch it online!

Housewives Updates! Guilty Pleasure!

Yes, Yes, it's true! I am guilty of watching some of the housewives reality shows! (giggle). So I want to let you know what is happening on some of the series, here we go!

Well, on "Housewives of Atlanta" Kim, who is known to be dating a married man, has come out with her lesbian side, bringing her lesbian lover with her to events as her date, she even brought her daughters with her! Kim is certainly setting quite an example there. Kim is even rumored to be pregnant now! Wow! Enough already! Nene is having problems with her husband, she is rumored to be in the process of a divorce, Kandi is busy making her music and putting up with Kim's none talents. There are now two new wives who are busy having babies. Sheree, a major diva, now wants to get into acting and win an Oscar while in the midst of dating a doctor now.

Then there is "Housewives of Beverly Hills", Kyle is going to do a bike marathon and was advised to get a Brazilian wax, so she decides to have it done at home professionally with her daughter watching! Really? Really? Unbelievable. Meanwhile, Her sister Kim invites some guy over she met at the grocery store for dinner and to meet her kids. Taylor hosts a charity night playing poker, as she is asked to make a speech, she lets everyone know why she is committed to this charity. Lisa Vanderpump, what a name, and her live in friend have to get their United States drivers licenses and  have to travel to a less than desired neighborhood to the DMV and are grossed out by the people and the area. (Poor things!).

Tune in next week folks .... these housewives are a joke, but I love watching their idiocy.

Bridalplasty ...?????

I will admit that I haven't seen nor will I watch this ridiculous show. Television is just getting worse and worse and worse! This show promises to be a "bang your head against the wall" show. So put on your helmets if you plan on watching this monstrosity!
Bridalplasty consists of twelve brides-to-be from all walks of life. These brides will compete in challenges in order to win plastic-surgery procedures and each bride has a wish list of procedures they want, whether they need it or not. These women look perfectly normal, its hard to understand why any of them would even want to receive painful plastic surgery, besides the fact that they obviously vain. Its also an obsession for material things; the show promise a ultimate all expense paid dream wedding as a grand prize. The girls are clearly coached to be dramatic in their performances, screaming and crying outlandishly after winning a super-challenge puzzle that consists of about eight pieces that is a picture of themselves. The brides prize might be an invitation to an injection party! Imagine that!? These brides are not even realizing that those injections will wear off before the show is even over. I can see that television viewers are just chomping at the bit to see this all unfold.
Put on your helmets and don't forget I warned you! Catch it on E! TV.

Tabatha's Salon Takeover

This show is great! It features hair stylist Tabatha Coffey who visits various beauty salons in order to remake their salons in better places and teach the staff how to be professional or hit the road. Tabatha has no trouble in letting these people know they have to shape up or ship out! You must watch an episode or a few, you won't regret it!

The shows take place all over the United States and Tabatha is given one week to transform the salons. After that week is done Tabatha will then decide if the salon has improved and can open again or the salon is dead and needs to close. During that week at the salons, Tabatha teaches lessons on customer service, cleanliness, and current styling techniques to all employed at there. This show is a must, just to see her kick butt and put the most offensive stylist in their place is hilarious!

Here is a link to watch a few episodes:

Undercover Boss

This reality show is definitely a must, what more can you ask for than to see top executives dropping down to the level of the people they employee! An example would be a President of the company going undercover and becoming the new employee of that company, having to be trained by regular employees. These executives can see exactly what they are building in their companies and how the decisions they make affect their employees. They can also get a perspective on who the people are that are helping them or who the people are that are a detriment to the company.

Some of the executives that will appear on the show are Waste Managements C.O.O. Larry O'Donnell, Hooters C.E.O. Coby G. Brooks, 7-Elevens C.E.O. Joseph M. DePinto, Churchill Downs C.O.O. Bill Carstanjen, and Chicago Cubs Owner Todd Ricketts. These men are just a few that appear on the roster.

I have watched a couple of these episodes and have come to tears at the end of the shows. The executives usually end up recognizing their most hard working employees by going beyond the regular employer/employee relationship. The employers have helped the employees out with personal needs and growth in the company. I can see this show having many seasons in television.

Married to Rock

This reality show is about four different women, the one thing they have in common is that they are in relationships with either rocker husbands or rocker boyfriends. These four women have formed friendships in order to get through the touring, the groupies and the mayhem that come along with their honey's, each one trying to get through their relationships without going crazy.
The women are Etty Lau Farrell (married to Rocker Perry Farrell and she is a artist and manager of the Farrell household.), Josie Stevens (married to Rocker Steve Stevens and her career consists of Playboy, video game character, magazine covers, hair stylist and make-up artist), Susan Holmes McKagan (married to Rocker Duff McKagan, she is from San Diego and is a international supermodel), and AJ Celi (dating Rocker Billy Duffy and right now is a VIP director of Playhouse Nightclub in Hollywood).
What are we going to make of this reality show? Well I think we can chalk it up with all those other rock shows like "Rock of Love" and "Daisey of Love". Just another scripted drama filled show. I personally don't recommend this show, but if anyone wants to see this show you can check it out on E! television and online.

Sarah Palin's Alaska

Well we didn't see her as vice president of the united states, but we have seen her a lot since the election in 2008. Sarah has made many talk show appearances, she even made it onto Saturday Night Live. We have seen her in the past year heading up the tea party rallies; but now she has her own reality show called "Sarah Palin's Alaska".

This show is about the beautiful state of Alaska with the former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin hosting it. The shows premier made big ratings on Sunday night. The eight-part series drew 4.92 million viewers, which was TLC’s biggest series premier ever. Sarah shows everything on the show, her beautiful home, the broadcasting office that is unattached from the house. Her large back yard that has a backdrop of the Alaskan skyline. Sarah also takes us with her as she goes out on adventures through the Alaskan country.

Sarah does have a stalker that lives next door who likes to take pictures and try to have things to write about her and her family. Her husband has built a large 18 foot fence in order to protect her privacy. I found the show entertaining and will most likely watch it again.

Little People, Big World

I started watching this show in 2006 while I was in the hospital. I really enjoyed this show, it really kept me entertained for three weeks while I was there. Like the the show "The Little Couple" that I have mentioned in my blog, this show also follows a little couple and their kids through life. The "Little People, Big World" family live on a huge farm called Roloff Farm in Oregon.

This family has gone through their ups and downs, trying to live in a average world while being small. The Roloff's have four children; three are normal size and one is also a little person. The parents are Matt and Amy Roloff, the children are twins Jeremy and Zach, Molly and Jacob. Matt runs his own business on the farm and is also the former president of Little People of America, an advocacy group for little people and issues affecting their lives. Amy the mom was a stay-at-home mom but is now holding down two jobs.

This is a very interesting show while it has been on, but unfortunately the Roloff family is preparing to say goodbye. For more than 200 episodes, the Roloffs have welcomed viewers to share their daily lives from their pumpkin farm in Oregon. The final season is running right now on the BRAVO channel if you wish to catch the ending but you can also watch episodes online.

MORE NEW Reality Shows to Come!

The channel VH1 is coming out with 44 more reality shows this year for TV addicts. YES I SAID 44 MORE on just that channel!

Now supposedly these shows are not going to be scripted if you can believe that. Here are some listings and descriptions for a few of these new shows:

“You’re Cut Off!” – Spoiled women completely cut off from shopping, mani-pedis and bottle service. This new show is about these women who are removed from all cash and conveniences, forced to live as normal people do and encouraged to become productive members of society, known as "spoiled rotten rehab."

“Money Hungry” – Like VH1’s show “Celebrity Fit Club” series (one we haven't talked about yet!), 10 overweight teams of two will risk losing $10,000 of their own money if they don't drop the pounds.

“Wedding Wars” – This show is about engaged couples who compete for a dream wedding. If there is such a thing.

“Diary of a Hip Hop Girlfriend” – An 8-part show that follows women who are in relationships with big name rappers.

“Fantasia for Real 2” – This is Season 2 for Fantasia from “Fantasia For Real”, a recording artist, broadway star, and a single mother Fantasia. We watch her balance her complicated personal life with her desire to connect with her fans through music.

Eva Longoria's “Beso: Waiting on Fame” – A show about the real stories of people waiting ON the famous…while waiting to BECOME famous. It takes place in Eva Longoria Parker's Hollywood restaurant BESO. I think this one should last maybe two or three shows the most!

“Estranged with Dr. Drew” – Dr. Drew Pinsky goes back to his roots and takes on couples who are on the edge of estrangement. I love this guy, he is so handsome. I will definitely have to see this one!

These are just some of the shows on ONE channel. There will be more coming on your local channels in the future. And word on the street is that some of these new reality shows will be broadcasting on-line, one site will be "You Tube". Keep tuned in folks ... it's going to be a bumpy ride! lol

"The Bachlorette" & "The Batchelor" Reality Dating

How many of us can actually go on television in order to find ... ugh hmm ... true love? Well there is a reality series on now where you can try to find your true love, and you can be paid a large sum of money to do it. But putting all your business out there for the world to see could be a hindrance towards the future of how people see you. Or you could really find your true love! Imagine that!

I have only watched these episodes when they were in their first seasons, after that I became bored with the obvious staged scenes.

The show itself revolves around a single male or female and a cast of potential interests, usually about 25, which possibly includes a potential wife or husband. There are conflicts during the dating process, both internal and external, which end up with eliminations of contenders during the rose ceremony. The process culminates with visits to the contestants families, regular dates, overnight dates, and final meetings with the bachelor's family. In the end after all contestants are eliminated except for one, the bachelor/bachelorette proposes to his or her final selection. There have been seasons where there were no proposals and everyone went on their way, usually heart broken. Many cast-offs who were eliminated from the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows become the new bachelor or bachelorette for the next drama ridden seasons.

If you become interested in this series you can find it on usually during the summer season. The show airs on ABC and can you can also see reruns on-line.

"MY BIG FRIGGIN' WEDDING" !

I sat and got a glimpse of this NEW reality show called "My Big Friggin' Wedding". I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Television is really grasping for straw here. You have to either watch one episode or just review it online if your able! You'll won't grasp it either and you will definitely be disgusted and laugh at these idiots!

This new show is on VH1on Mondays at 9:00 PM. Yet again it focuses on New Jersey and Long Island, NY. This show is full of loud mouth guidos and more guidettes.

Like I said it consists of New Jersey and Long Island girls who are really anticipating their magical walk down the aisle. It's Bridezillas meets Jersey Shore. There are five couples in the show who are planning the big day, and the show flips between them seeing how they all cope.

One of the big aspects that I noticed on this show is the fact that many of the couples have children or are pregnant - and yet they still get up to the same ridiculous fist-pumping antics as The Jersey Shore kids. It's kind of scary to realize that these people are raising kids and clearly, most of them don't seem as if they want to get married or are even ready to get married. Though, if these people have found each other, they might just be soul mates.

What Ever Happened To Regular TV Shows??

OK folks, I just wanted to touch base with you all and just discuss Television as a whole. Back in the OLD days, funny right?, there was ALL REGULAR TV shows. There was no such thing as reality TV except for sports and news telecasts. Television shows like the Walton's, All in The Family, Bonanza, Lassie were family oriented and very entertaining.

What is Reality TV? I feel these so called shows are full of people who are willingly putting themselves and their families out there to be exploited. The fact that money is a part of the equation makes it easier for them to fall into this trap. Most of these people will not use their earnings wisely and most likely end up years from now wondering what happened.

The biggest realty show in those days were the telecasts from the astronauts when they landed on the moon. That point in time was amazing. Now all we see are morons on TV pretending what they are doing is real. Never mind the loss of morals and common sense.

I say end ALL realty TV and get back to basics, what are all these actors and actresses being paid for anyways?!

The Little Couple

I love this show! This couple is so cute! It's an inspiring and feel good show, not to mention how light hearted and funny this couple is at times when they are dealing with the ups and downs of everyday life. The show runs on TLC usually during the early fall season and you can watch episodes online.

The show is about Bill Klein and Jen Arnold, who are both under 4 feet tall, and their everyday lives together in an average sized world. We follow them through each show as they move to a new city, build from the ground up a new home, and make very big decisions involving the risks of planning a family. Jen and Bill want children but Jen cannot carry a child due to the dangerous risks for someone that is under 4 feet tall. So they both have decided that going with a surrogate would be safer.

Jen Arnold is a neonatologist at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and Bill has his own sales business, which is a training and telecommunications business based in New York. Bill often has to commute for work and tries to make a long distance marriage work at times with Jen.

One of the purposes of their show is to inspire kids, with new diagnoses of spondylo-epiphyseal dysplasia, and their parents and to let them know that they can live fullfilled lives. They want these kids to know they can still find love and do what they want in life. I highly recommend this show to viewers!

Jersey Shore "We wanna watch"?

The "Jersey Shore" Show, hmmm ... these young adults, if you will, are making their fame out of drinking, "smooshing", fighting, and demoralizing themselves and their families in front of millions of viewers each week on MTV.

The boys on this show are basically there to flex their muscles and try to hook up with almost every female that is hot in their eyes and has a warm body. The girls on this show are not any better, but every now and then they'll throw in the occassional cat fight along with the drama.

I can't even begin to imagine how these parents of the "Jersey Shore" cast feel each week after seeing their kids performances. Mom and Dad, is the money your kids are making for each show worth the stereotype they will end up with later in life? Are these parents and the cast looking at the big picture here? It seems that the highest offer so far is that one of these guidettes has received an invitation to pose for Playboy, and it wasn't even for a cool million!

And one of the cast, SNOOKIE (below), is busy getting her drunk on and getting busted at the beach. She has been busted a couple of times. What a girl!

I wanna know what and where this cast will be in thirty years? Will they still be at the Jersey shore trying to flex their muscles and partying like there's no tomorrow? I guess we will all have to wait and see ... I for one will not be waiting to see!

The Biggest Loser Show

Well you knew this one was coming sooner or later. I have to admit that I do watch this show occasionally when its on. I love to see the determination, friendships and success of these contestants. But this show has come up in the news again charging that the media is exploiting overweight people and that the treatment of the contestants is harsh and the performance expectations might even cross the line.

These contestants sign up for these shows on their own hoping to win the million dollar prize. Their arms are not being broken to get them to sign on. They have seen the show before they signed on and know what will be expected of them. So if the trainers tell them to run faster or do more sit ups and they're ready to die,  they do it for the chance at the MONEY!

If you get a chance, check out this show if you haven't already. It airs on NBC and you can find out when the next series will be on and watch repeat episodes on-line.

Housewives of ... crawling out from under rocks!

Well, people we have more housewives selling their wares from every corner of the US. If your caught up in their drama then you already know that these housewives are from the upper societies of Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, the OC, DC, and now watch out because here they come from Beverly Hills. Just what we need, more women pretending to hate and love each other and who are neurotic. Besides having their fifteen minutes of fame, these housewives are hoping for more riches to pile onto their already large bank accounts.

I say we think out of the box and have housewives from middle income families and from lower income families. OOPS, they've done that too, that show is called Wife Swap (another reality show)! Wife Swap is not nearly as popular a show than the Housewives of (wherever). I guess society finds the housewives that are financially well off, and more often than not plastic barbies, more fascinating than watching "Jane Smith" who lives in some unheard of town and live each day with what God gave them.

Lets compare the housewives from "The Housewives of DC" - (See Below)

And housewives from the show "Wifeswap" - (see below)

If you are interested in checking out the "Housewives of ... ", their show can be found on BRAVO TV throughout the year and repeat shows online. Wifeswap can be found on the ABC channel thru the summer season and there are repeat episodes online.

"The Amazing Race" Reality Show

At last, a feel good reality show. This show has been on air for 17 seasons! The show is comprised of eleven teams. The teams are made up of all different ages, sexual orientations and ethnicity's. Each team has two people, and these teams range with many different mixes of situations. They consist of dating couples, married couples, divorced couples, and also might be related (parent and child, siblings, grandparents), lifelong friends, sports team colleagues, and co-workers. The stress of competition during the challenges on this show either make the relationships or break them.

The object of the game is to meet and succeed at many different challenges. Whatever team is the first to make it to the end wins! The feel good part about this show is how some of these people pull together during adversities and many parts are funny. Truly shows what mankind is really made of. I love this show.

Sister Wives?????

Really? Really? Are we this bored? What's next? This show is despicable and a embarrassment to humanity. The glorization of a man having his cake and eating it too, and getting away with it, never mind that it is against the law. If you wish to see what the media deems as entertaiment, check out the link. Here is a picture of the clan on Oprah.

TLC stars of the show 'Sister Wives' - Christine, Janelle, Meri, Kody Brown and Robyn are seated on the couch for an interview with Oprah Winfrey airing Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010.

Teen Mom Reality Show Controversy

www.mtv.com/shows/teen_mom/season_2/series.jhtml
http://www.gsusignal.com/perspectives/is-the-teen-pregnancy-media-craze-helpful-or-harmful-1.2143877

This reality show has been said to portray young pregnancy as difficult and chaotic but also a gateway to fame. The reality show these girls have signed up for portrays their journeys through getting pregnant at such a young age of sixteen to having their babies and dealing with life's issues after. The issue as to whether teens that have been watching this show are seeing pregnancy at such a young age as to their "fifteen minutes of fame" is worrisome.

The teens that are now on the show have shown that becoming young mothers has definitely been difficult to say the least. Getting pregnant at such a young age of sixteen has changed their life's paths. Since having their babies, these girls have been struggling with motherhood, finishing school, working for their financial needs, and dealing with family issues such as drugs and domestic violence.

I think this show, while showing a lot of interesting points, is also showing that teen pregnancy is NOT the way to go and that SAFE sex is of the utmost importance. Teenagers that do get pregnant at an early age are not only affecting their own lives, but are also affecting the lives of their unborn children and the family around them.
